Official music video for the track Ziggy Stardust by David Bowie.
The song was released on his fifth studio album, 'The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars' in 1972.
Ziggy Stardust was also the name of the alter-ego that David Bowie used during that period. The song 'Ziggy Stardust' tells the story of this a fictional rockstar, who was inspired by may "fallen greats" from rock who Bowie admired. Part of the character and story in the song supposedly come form the lives of Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison and in particular Jimi Hendrix.
The official video from the song is taken from the documentary/concert film made in 1973, also called 'Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars'. It shows David Bowie, on stage as Ziggy for the last time, performing live in Hammersmith. The track has a classic rock feel to it, with more of a hevy guitar and drum presence to tie-in with the story of a crashed-and-burned rocker.
