Hello everyone and welcome to a brand new season of The Crypt Sessions. For the past couple of months we've been busy searching the planet for acts, old and new, that are worthy of your delectation and then filming their lo-fi genius in our world-renowned, hi-def Cryptovision. It's been a treat. Trust us, this season is fit to bust with the good stuff.
To prove the point, let's kick off with Caitlin Rose. Still only 22, Caitlin is being hailed as the girl most likely in Nashville. The Independent has crowned her as, 'nothing less than the freshfaced, outlaw-minded future of country music.' The Guardian has genuflected in front of her 'rare and prodigious talent.' Her latest LP, Own Side Now, earned a clutch of glowing, four-plus star reviews from admiring UK broadsheet critics when it was released in August and scored album of the week in the Sunday Times, The Independent, The Independent on Sunday, Evening Standard and even the Rough Trade shops.
Caitlin lists Neil Diamond, Gram Parsons, Elliott Smith, The Louvin Brothers and Jospehine Baker among her influences, along with jean jackets, marlboro reds, 'and the fact that I have all the time in the world.' Her songs are whiskey-rich and sour, her voice is sweet, clear spring water from a Smokey Mountain stream. We think she's amazing and we think you will too.
