Here at The Crypt Sessions we intend to mesmerise with an eclectic mix of the finest acoustic music known to man, capturing the lo-def audio genius of acts old and new in lush hi-def video. So what better way to kick off our first episode than with an offering from Brighton’s finest up-and-coming singer-songwriter, Shona Foster?
Blessed with a rare and uncompromising talent, Shona’s a proper artist and (if theres any justice in this world) she’s set for greatness. Her songs are dark and lustrous, intimate and burlesque think Kate Bush in seamed stockings, locked in an ambiguous clinch with Tom Waits on a velvet chaise-longue. Set against Matthew Gest’s virtuoso piano accompaniment, La Fosters god-given voice will give you goose bumps and leave you begging for more. Good job, then, that she and her band are recording their debut album as we speak.
