Azealia Amanda Banks formerly known as Miss Bank$ is an American rapper, singer and lyricist who is signed to Interscope/Polydor. She was born 31st May 1991, Harlem, New York. She was raised by her mother along with her two older sisters, after their father died . At the age of 10 she became interested in theater, acting, and singing. She joined the Tada! Youth Theater in Lower Manhattan where she had lead roles in three productions (Rabbit Sense, Sleepover, and Heroes) in addition to performing as a soloist. She was trained in the performing arts at the LaGuardia High School of Performing Arts in Manhattan. When she was sixteen, she starred in a production of the comedy-noir musical City of Angels. She never graduated high school, as she choose to follow her dream of becoming a recording artist. February 2009, she released her debut recording "Gimme A Chance" online under her knew name Miss Bank$. Later that year, Banks signed to record label XL Records where she began work with producer Richard Russell; later leaving the label due to conflicting ideas. Following her departure from XL Recordings, she became known as Azealia Banks and now resides in Montreal. In 2011 she released her debut single L"212" , the song gained large European chart, peaking at No. 17 in Netherlands, No. 12 in the UK and at No. 7 in Ireland. Although unsigned, she began working with British producer Paul Epworth on a debut studio album. Broke with Expensive Taste is due to come out in fall of 2012. Her songs often feature explicit and profane lyrics, which she is tired of defending as they are only profane as they reflect her everyday speech and her experiences. In February, 2012 she publicly confirmed her bisexuality stating "I'm not trying to be, like, the bisexual, lesbian rapper. I don't live on other people's terms". In May 2012, It was announced that a mixtape is due to be released which is entitled “Fantasea”.The second single to be released from the album was Liquorice
