We here at MUZU.TV thought that it would only be fair to write a blog in rememberance of the songs that never (but should have) made it as the Christmas number one! Don’t agree? Then leave your comments below.

1: Jeff Buckley ‘Hallelujah’


Jeff Buckley – Hallelujah on MUZU

This cover of Leonard Cohen’s classic song was originally released on Jeff Buckley’s album ‘Grace’ in 1994. However, due to a huge fan campaign, Buckley’s cover of the song re-entered the UK charts last Christmas at number two! The song was narrowly beaten to the number one spot by Alexandra Burke’s cover version of the same song!

2: Wham! ‘Last Christmas’


WHAM! – Last Christmas on MUZU

Wham! were a 1980′s pop duo created by George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley. The song was released in 1984 but was beaten from the top spot by Band Aid’s ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas’ .

3: T-Rex ‘Jeepster’


My Beat Club – Jeepster on MUZU

Jeepster was released by British Glam Rock band, T-Rex in 1971. The single was beaten to the top spot by Bennie Hill with his single ‘Ernie (The Fastest Milkman in the West)”. The band later came to an abrupt end in September 1977 when lead singer for the band Marc Bolan, died in a car crash.

4: Vanilla Ice ‘Ice Ice Baby’


Vanilla Ice – Ice Ice Baby on MUZU

Vanilla Ice (a.k.a Robert Van Winkle) released his single in 1990. The single features samples from Queen and David Bowie’s single ‘Under Pressure’. The song was beaten to the number one spot by Cliff Richard and his single Saviours Day .

5: Mariah Carey ‘All I Want For Christmas’


Mariah Carey – All I Want For Christmas Is You on MUZU

Mariah Carey released this single in 1994. However the single was beaten by East 17′s single ‘Stay Another Day’ .
