5 UK Acts From The Last Decade That People Will Still Listen To In The Next 10 Years
Posted by: Muzu Team In: MUZU.TV
Andy Warhol famously said “In the future everyone will have their fifteen minutes of fame”. While this might be true of some acts, there are certain bands that manage to stand the test of time. We take a look at 5 UK acts that we think people will still listen to in 20 years time.
5. Franz Ferdinand Take Me Out
Franz Ferdinand’s self-titled debut album reached number 3 in the UK album charts back and won the Mercury Music prize in 2004. Franz Ferdinand lead singer Alex Kapranos said he formed the band because he wanted to make music for girls to dance to. Their most recent album went in at number 2 in UK album charts so it looks like they’ll still be going strong in this decade.

4. Dizzee Rascal – Bonkers
Dizzee Rascal has had continual critical and commercial success since the release of his debut album “Boy In Da Corner” was released in 2004. He has since moved away from the harder sound of his first album to making dance floor fillers like “Bonkers”. He now has a list of music stars queuing up to collaborate with him. Watch the video for Bonkers below:
3. M.I.A.
Mathangi “Maya” Arulpragasam a.k.a M.I.A was listed as “World’s Most Influential people” in Time Magazine. Her eclectic musical style has led to critical acclaim and mainstream chart success. M.I.A was also nominated for two Grammy Awards and an Academy Award. Watch the Paper Planes video below:

2. Kasabian
Despite getting together in 1999, Kasabian only released their first album in 2004. Since then their sing-along anthems have been regular favourites at festivals throughout the UK. With Oasis splitting up last year it looks like it could be Kasabian’s decade to take over as the kings of British rock n’ roll. Watch the video below:

1. Arctic Monkeys
Since the release of their debut album in 1996 Arctic Monkeys have regularly featured in both the charts and on critic’s favourite lists. The band built up a large fan base on the internet before they had a record label. With rumours of a new album planned for 2010 it looks like the band will still be as popular this decade as they were in the last.
