Adrian Crowley wins Choice Music Prize
Congratulations to this year’s Choice Music award winner Adrian Crowley, the singer picked up a cheque for €10,000 for his album Seasons of the Sparks. The award ceremony which took place in Vicar Street was voted by a panel of 12 judges, they decided that the singer from Barna in Galway had an album that was a cut above the rest. Crowley was a surprise winner as favourites Valerie Francis and Codes were expected to win. The singer is already signed to a Scottish label Chemikal Underground and will be hoping that this award will boost his profile in the UK and beyond. Set up in 2005, previous winners of this coveted prize include Jape, The Divine Comedy, and Super Extra Bonus Party. It views an album on its artistic merit rather than on commercial sales and benefits alternative artists that are ignored by the media.
