It’s that time of year again. X Factor is back taking over our screens and having everyone talking about their favourites at school and work on Monday morning. So that got me thinking, what are some of the X-Factor contestants who came so close to winning doing now?

Rhydian Roberts is a Welsh opera singer who was runner up in the 2007 X-Factor final. Since appearing on X-Factor, Rhydian has released two bestselling albums, done a UK tour in 2009, and made gala and charity appearances in his native Wales and also at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall, London. In late 2010, he embarks on a major Europe and UK arena tour of The War of the Worlds – Alive On Stage! Projects for 2011 include the Welsh tour of We Will Rock You and a new CD album in February

Olly Murs was runner up to 2009 winner Joe McElderry yet has since gone on to sign a joint record deal on Simon Cowell’s label and Epic records. Having just completed the X-Factor arena tour with the rest of the gang, Olly began work on his debut album and his debut single “Please don’t let me go” has just reached #1 in the charts.

JLS were runners up to Alexandra Burke two years ago yet still signed to Epic Records and enjoyed two #1 singles when “Beat Again” and “Everybody in Love” both went to number-one on the UK Singles Chart. Their album was released shortly afterwards and has since sold over one million copies in the UK. “The Club Is Alive”, the lead single from their second studio album, was released in the UK in July 2010, and earned the band their third number-one on the UK Singles Chart.
