Who Are the Contenders to Support Kings of Leon at Slane?
With the news announced last week that Kings of Leon are going to headline the 30th anniversary of the iconic event, Slane, we here at Muzu are excited to find out just who the support act could possibly be. So we have come up with a lineup of who we think are the most likely to fill the space. Let us know who you think could potentially be supporting KOL below.
Biffy Clyro
Biffy have had one of the albums of the year with ‘Only Revolutions’ and have been edging closer and closer to headline status on the festival circuit. With epic hits like “living is a problem because everything dies“, “the captain” and “bubbles“, the 3 piece from Scotland are definitely major contenders in my mind.
Biffy Clyro – Saturday Superhouse
The National are another band who have steadily been going from strenght to strenght over the years with their 2007 album Boxer receiving widespread critical praise and was mentioned in almost every top 5 album of the year poll due. Their newest creation, High Violet, has continued this trend by achieving critical acclaim and leading the National on to a sell out European Tour which includes a 3 night sell out show in the Olympia, Dublin.
Mumford & Sons’ debut album ‘Sigh No More’ was received with great acclaim due to its creative lyrics and musicianship. It featured heavily in the top 10 of the album charts upon its release. The band have also began to create an established following in the US having sold out 20 shows across the pond while also appearing on major talk shows such as Late Night with David Letterman. Expectation is rife regarding their second album which is due our in 2011 which would also make them prime targets for a support slot for KOL.
