Lawson are the hot new UK guitar-pop band set for big things in 2012. Made up of members Andy Brown (24), Joel Peat (21), Adam Pitts (21) and Ryan Fletcher (22), they first met online via YouTube and MySpace, and then in real life in the pub.
Later, when they rehearsed, they not only discovered a shared love of the same artists, but that they had an instant musical connection. Working on their sound, described by the Daily Star as “a cross between One Republic and Ed Sheeran”, they spent the next couple of years writing, posting great covers and original songs on Youtube, and criss-crossing the country in a beat-up van playing wherever they could. Their combination of hard graft and songwriting skills paid off, and they recently inked a deal with Polydor Records, home to the likes of Take That, Lady Gaga and Maroon 5.
Back on the road (in a slightly nicer van!), they’ve now opened shows for acts such as Avril Lavigne and Will Young, as well as finishing their own headline tour of the UK. Catch them supporting their pals The Wanted on their national arena tour in February and March, they’re bound to be big in 2012 so catch ‘em while they’re hot!
