The Wanted – British Boy Band Making It Big In America
Ahh, The Wanted. They’ve hit the press recently and we’re proud. The Wanted are a British and Irish boy band who are now based in London, and comprises of band members Max George, Siva Kaneswaran, Jay McGuiness, Tom Parker and also Nathan Sykes. The Wanted’s debut single release, “All Time Low“, reached the UK number one July 2010 for one week. They followed this with their debut studio album which was self titles and released on 25 October 2010. This album peaked at number four in the UK. The first single from their second album, was titles “Gold Forever” and was released for UK charity event Comic Relief, and it reached number three in the UK Singles Chart. The band’s second number one hit is one which they are most synonimous with, “Glad You Came“, which topped the chart in the UK for two weeks, and also in Ireland for five weeks. The Wanted’s second studio album, Battleground, was released in November of 2011.
The Wanted formed in 2009. They were a boyband that was formed through various auditions by the renowned Jayne Collins, who also put through other credible UK pop acts The Saturdays and also Parade. The Wanted’s debut single, “All Time Low” was produced by Mac, and co-written by Wayne Hector and Ed Drewett. All Time Low managed to remain in the Top 40 for 17 weeks which is quite the accomplishement for a debut single. The Wanted’s second single, “Heart Vacancy” was again written with Wayne Hector. “Lose My Mind“, was performed on hit UK music show The X Factor and it then peaked at number nineteen in the UK singles chart. The Wanted have also previously toured with pop icons Justin Beiber and Britney Spears.
The Wanted did their first American tour in Early 2012, for which two of their shows where sold out in a matter of minutes. This success happened almost simultaneously at the same time as the success of British boy band One Direction. We’re proud of our British boys for making it big across the atlantic and can’t wait to see what the rest of 2012 has to bring for them.
