FUTURE HITS LIVE HEADS TO LEEDS!
The Hits Radio new music show returns!
Bauer Media has announced that Stylus at Leeds University Union will be playing host to ’Future Hits Live’ – the third in a series of special music events for pop lovers on Thursday 26 April, 2012.
Behind the event is The Hits Radio, which prides itself on being the authority on the hottest new pop music. One of the UK’s biggest commercial digital radio stations, The Hits Radio has over 1 million listeners and 145,000 facebook fans.
Future Hits Live will showcase the station’s hottest tips for the future – Stooshe, Alyssa Reid, Mindless Behavior, Lonsdale Boys Club and A*M*E – with core The Hits Radio artist Alexandra Burke headlining on the night.
The Hits Radio presenter James Everton says:
“Future Hits Live started last summer in Leamington and ended a successful year for The Hits Radio in Edinburgh last year. Now I’m so pleased it’s back for 2012 with another brilliant line-up and that, for the first time, we’re heading to Yorkshire!
We’re all about excellent new pop music on The Hits Radio so I’m delighted to welcome one of the most exciting new girl groups Stooshe, to the bill, as well as brilliant new boybands Mindless Behaviour and Lonsdale Boys Club. And of course, our headliner Alexandra Burke, has been a massive player on the station since her X Factor victory, so I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us.”
With four number one singles and an X Factor victory behind her, Alexandra Burke is a true pop force to be reckoned with. As one of the UK’s most successful female artists, Future Hits Live will be a rare opportunity to see Alexandra in an intimate venue, and to see some of the first performances from her forthcoming second album.
London girls Stooshe have been causing a scene with their Travie McCoy featuring single ‘Love Me’ in 2012. These three fun-loving girls have been championed by The Hits Radio since their first single release last year, and bring an infectious, bold and lively new attitude to the charts.
19 year old Alyssa Reid was unknown at the start of the year, but now holds one of the biggest songs of 2012 under her belt. Her ‘Heart’ sampling ‘Alone Again’ shot straight to #1 earlier in the year and has stayed firmly on radio playlists ever since.
Mindless Behavior are one of America’s favourite boy bands. Now having toured with Justin Bieber and Jason Durulo in the States, they’re heading to the UK to see if they can take over here too. The teen quartet, Prodigy, Princeton, Ray Ray and Roc Royal have already sold out shows in London, so we’re delighted to be bringing them out of the capital to Future Hits Live.
Freshly signed to Gary Barlow’s record label Future, Lonsdale Boys Club have spent the last couple of months supporting Olly Murs on tour. Their debut single ‘Light Me Up’ is released the week of Future Hits Live so prepare to celebrate their sunshine-tinged pop success. And also joining us from Future comes the bright, colourful A*M*E. This new female pop star is just starting out and joins Future Hits Live to play one of her very first shows.
The Leeds event is the third in a number of intimate gigs showcasing new pop acts at different venues across the country. The previous shows have featured acts such as Pixie Lott, Rizzle Kicks, Tinchy Stryder, Wretch 32 and Cover Drive.
Tickets are on sale now at just £13.50, plus booking fee, from www.thehitsradio.com, facebook.com/thehitsradio and selected outlets in Leeds city centre.
