Jake Bugg releases second album, Shangri La! + Win tickets to see Jake live.
Shangri La, Bugg’s second album, takes it’s name from the studio it was recorded in and brings a new dimension to the repertoire of Nottingham’s young musical export. 19 year old Jake teamed up with legendary producer Rick Rubin (Johnny Cash, Red Hot Chili Peppers) to create something “genuine”, “natural” and alternative to “X Factor shit”. Bugg maintains his blues sensibilities whilst also punting for a more alt-rock vibe, his more mature style blossoming in song “Messed Up Kids”, a folk-rock offering building upon previous success of songs like “Seen It All”. As part of the album release, Jake will be performing songs, old and new, at the Royal Albert Hall on the 21st February 2014. The competition will be running from the 18th November until midnight on the 2nd December. Enter here.
Jake Bugg’s video, Slumville Sunrise, features This Is England actress Rosamund Hanson and was also directed by Shane Meadows. Speaking about the video, Meadows commented that “The video is basically a chase. A character, played by Jake, steals a ring from a jeweler and a pursuit begins, the chasing party increases in size and becomes more and more bizarre as the chase and song go on.”
