Official music video for the track Death To My Hometown by Bruce Springsteen.
Bruce Springsteen official music video for ‘Death To My Hometown’. ‘Death To My Hometown’ is a song performed by Bruce Springsteen. The second single off ‘Wrecking Ball’, toted as his most political album to date, Bruce Springsteen lets fly a raging Celtic-rocker single with ‘Death To My Hometown’. The clip pulls together unique footage from The Boss’ recent rehearsal and his live concerts at the Apollo Theatre, Atlanta and SXSW. The sound for the track comes from a live take and features the Nightwatchman riff-master Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine. ‘Death to My Hometown’ is one of the songs that has greatly benefited from being performed on a nightly basis by the E Street Band. While the recorded version may have suffered from over-production, this live version of song roars to life onstage with a wall of horns and electric guitars. ‘Death To My Hometown’ maintains the significant Irish influence which was present on the original album version on ‘Wrecking Ball’, particularly in Springsteen’s voice, although they have been reduced in concert to emphasise the rockier side of the track. The new album brings us back to Bruce’s roots with shades of ‘Born In The USA’ and ‘Born To Run’ with its snarling attack on the hypocritical morals of contemporary American life. The song, which references Springsteen’s 1985 hit, ‘My Hometown,’ in the title, is about the destruction of small-town America in recent years by the bankers who preyed upon hard-working Americans, comparing the damage to a bloodless war.
