• The ThermalsAn Interview with Crate Digging With The Thermals

With their latest offering Personal Life, The Thermals trade familiar barbs on politics, religion and the like for some slightly unexpected musings on love and relationships. Less angsty, though no less exciting, Hutch Harris, Kathy Foster, and Westin Glass use the record to crack open their lives to the listeners just a bit. So what was our response to the band's sudden candor on record? ? Well, we made the band hang out with us in real life...we made The Thermals take us shopping!

Records, vintage clothing, Williamsburg...the conditions were perfect when the band swung through town a few weeks back. Meeting up with the band for some good old fashioned crate digging at Sound Fix Records in Brooklyn, the band dish on album artwork, and discuss a few of their current tour favorites. What we learned? Apparently the band are the opposite of indie music snobs. They only pay attention to the most popular, commercial stuff going. Oh, and Radiohead are terrible...sort of.

Have a look at part one of our adventures with The Thermals. Then come back Thursday afternoon when the band turns their attention from music to their incredibly sassy style. Hilarity will most assuredly ensue.
