English singer-songwriter Joe Jackson released his first solo record in 1979. His debut single Is She Really Going Out With Him? (1978) is one of his best known songs. In June 2012 Jackson released The Duke, his ode to American composer, pianist and big-band leader Duke Ellington (1899-1974), with guest appearances of Iggy Pop and Sharon Jones, among others. "You could study Ellington's music for your whole life", Jackson says.
