American Punk-Rock band Good Charlotte stormed the Shepherd’s Bush Empire on Sunday 7th August 2011. Having formed in 1996 the band released their first major album in 2000, but it was their second in 2002 that brought them their first mainstream success. The album, which is named ‘The Young and the Hopeless’ sold nearly five million copies, with hit singles ‘The Anthem,’ ‘Girls & Boys’ and ‘Hold On’ being their biggest successes. Their style is similar to that of other successful American punk rock band’s of that era, such as Green Day and Sum 41, who the band say had big influences on their material. Since their breakthrough the band have gone on to release three more successful albums, increasing their popularity beyond their hard-core fans.
