The Official video for "Somebody That I Used to Know" a song by Belgian-Australian singer and songwriter Gotye and is taken from his third studio album Making Mirrors. The video also features Kimbra Johnson, known mononymously as Kimbra; a New Zealand singer/songwriter. The song was produced and written by Gotye in his parents' barn on the Mornington Peninsula where it was recorded. Gotye sings, while he addresses a past love, discussing the ways in which he reminisces sometimes about the nature of love. It is about all of the different relationships experiences that he has had.

The single was released on 6 July 2011 as the second off the album. "Somebody That I Used to Know" had a surprising success in Australia, peaking at No.1 in the country for eight weeks and became the longest running Australian song since “Truly Madly Deeply” by Savage Garden. The song received other success in European countries, particularly Belgium, the UK, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Austria and Ireland. While in Poland "Somebody That I Used to Know" was No.1 for 18 weeks and became the Polskie Radio Program III’s biggest hit ever. "Somebody That I Used to Know” is Gotye and Kimbra's most successful single and their first No.1 song in Australia and New Zealand, also causing their previous singles and albums to chart in the top 100 in Australia. The song is his first song to chart in the US and the song has been featured on both the TV series 90210 and Gossip Girl. In February 2012, Gotye made his first American television appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Where he performed the song live.
