BIOGRAPHY
NME award-winner Jamie Treays is a 22-year-old singer/songwriter hailing from Wimbledon, South London, England. He is signed to Virgin Records but released his Betty and The Selfish Sons EP on his own Pacemaker Records label in 2007. His musical style is hard to place, but incorporates elements of rap, reggae, Indie and acoustic genres. Although at the time of writing Jamie has received relatively little mainstream exposure, he has received airplay from BBC Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe, who made 'Salvador' his single of the week and “Back In The Game” his Hottest Record In The World. In January 2007 Jamie also covered Zane’s show on radio 1 whilst Zane was away, working alongside Radio 1 DJ Nihal. On Jo Whiley’s show, “Back In The Game” featured as her “pet sound” and more recently his single Sheila was Whiley’s Record Of The Week. Jamie also remixed Gorillaz #36 single Kids With Guns. This was a B-side. “Sheila” was also ‘playlisted’ by Radio 1 thus receiving more airtime across all shows. To date Jamie has released three singles: “Sheila” was released on July 3rd 2006 and got to No.22 in the U.K. singles chart, his first Top 40 hit.
“If You’ve got the money”, was released in October 2006 and reached No.13 in the UK top 40, and most recently
“Calm Down Dearest” was released in the UK on January 15, 2007, reaching No.12, his highest charting commercial success.

“Panic Prevention”, Jamie’s Debut album, was released on 29/1/2007 - although it was also leaked on the internet 3 weeks earlier. Jamie’s no stranger to internet bootleggers, there’s also a naughty ‘Demos’ album hanging around on the world wide highway containing alternative and live performances.

On March 1, 2007, Treays was voted as Best Solo Artist at the NME Awards, at Hammersmith Palais in London, England. He held off more established names like Thom Yorke & Jarvis Cocker, to receive the award.

'CHAKA DEMUS' RELEASED 31 AUG!

Some two and a half years after the release of his Mercury nominated debut album ‘Panic Prevention', Jamie Treays is set to cement his status as one of the UK's most genuine and exciting young musicians. His return this year kicked off with the release of the ‘Sticks'N'Stones EP' in May. The rabble-rousing title track was adopted as the unofficial anthem of the summer and has gone on to sell over 50,000 copies to date. A sold-out UK tour with his band The Pacemakers segued straight into a stand-out performance at Glastonbury. He recently announced his biggest tour to date in October, culminating in a show at Brixton Academy which has already sold out.

In keeping with his intention to release a series of EPs, August 31st sees the release of the ‘Chaka Demus EP' on Virgin Records. It features four new tracks:

1. Chaka Demus'
2. ‘Forget Me Not (The Love I Knew Before I Grew)'
3. ‘Planning Spontaneity'
4. ‘When They Are Gone (For Tim)'.

Described by Q as ‘an irresistible, Black Grape-sized invitation to party', Chaka Demus looks set to conquer the airwaves alongside his other big hits Sheila, If You Got The Money and Calm Down Dearest. It will be available on CD, 12" and digital download.

‘Sticks'N'Stones' and ‘Chaka Demus' offer a glimpse of the eleven tracks that make up ‘Kings & Queens', Jamie T's second album which will be released on Sept 7th. Already awarded five stars in Observer Music Monthly, and four stars in Q, MOJO and Uncut it is one of the most eagerly awaited albums of 2009. It was recorded largely in Jamie's garden shed-cum studio and is exactly the album that Jamie T's admirers hoped he would make... full of the gutter poetry, anger and humour of the first album. But tougher, more focused, more confident... and with even better tunes.

Jamie T is the penultimate headline act on the NME/Radio One stage at the Carling Festival at Reading and Leeds on August 28th and 30th respectively. He then tours Australia before returning to the UK in October for a 14 date tour.
