Post-punk indie rockers Kaiser Chiefs return with ‘On The Run’, the second brand new song from the band’s sixteen-track career spanning singles collection ‘Souvenir’, set for release in 2012. With ‘On The Run’, the Chiefs team up with producer Stephen Street, known for his work with other iconic British acts such as Blur and The Smiths, and who contributed to the Kaiser Chiefs’ multi-million selling debut album ‘Employment’ in 2006 and also to their massive triple-platinum winning 2007 hit ‘Yours Truly, Angry Mob’. The track also benefits from the expertise of Claudius Mittendorfer who has worked with The Vaccines and Interpol. Despite their long hiatus, Kaiser Chiefs grabbed media attention with their fourth album ‘The Future Is Medieval’ in 2011 which introduced a new album format where the fans were encourage to select the order in which their album would be played, essentially a ‘create-your-own-album’ policy. The US format of ‘The Future is Medieval’ was released on 6 March 2012 under the new title ‘Start The Revolution Without Me’ and features brand new song ‘On The Run’, the second single following ‘Little Shocks’. Formed in Leeds, West Yorkshire, Kaiser Chiefs shot to fame with a surge in popularity with the post-punk new wave indie scene that arose in the UK in 2005 with their debut album Employment’. Their songs fuse dynamic rhythms, crunching guitar riffs and anthemic football-chant style hooks, typified by their hit singles ‘Ruby’ and ‘I Predict A Riot’, a style that easily lends itself to crowd sing-alongs in stadium arena settings.
