"Bad Romance" is a song by American pop singing sensation and recording artist Lady Gaga. Bad Romance was released as the lead single from her third EP and second major release The Fame Monster which was released in 2009. Bad Romance was written by Lady Gaga and produced by RedOne. Bad Romance was was inspired by Lady Gaga's fear of negative love relationships and the ensuing paranoia that she experienced while touring the world on the back of her success from the years 2008 to 2009. Lady Gaga premiered the finished version of Bad Romance at Alexander McQueen's fashion show at the Paris Fashion Week in October 2009. "Bad Romance" features a spoken bridge by Lady Gaga, heavy chorus and lyrics that are about being in love with your best friend. The song, contains elements of the music from the 80s and the 90s and a german house-techno style of music, which has been described by Gaga herself as a pop experimental record."Bad Romance" topped the charts world wide, and reached number one on the UK Singles Chart, Irish Singles Chart, Canadian Hot 100 and the Swedish, German, Austrian and Danish charts, also peaking at number two in countries such as the US, Australia and also New Zealand. Bad Romance has sold 9.7 million copies worldwide in 2010. Bad Romance received favourable reviews from critics, drawing comparisons to Gaga's second single, "Poker Face". It ranked the ninth best song by Rolling Stone Magazine in their list of the "25 Best Songs of 2009" and received the Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. The video features Lady Gaga inside a strange white bathhouse where she gets kidnapped by a bunch of models who drug her and then sell her to the Russian mafia for use in sexual slavery. The video ends with Gaga killing the man who bought her. The video was nominated for ten awards at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards, and won seven, including Video of the Year. The video won a Grammy for Best Short Form Music Video.
