Rihanna official music video for the song ‘Rude Boy’. ‘Rude Boy’ is a song performed by Rihanna. Released as the third single from her fourth studio album ‘Rated R’ (2009), ‘Rude Boy’ is an intoxicating Molotov cocktail of ragamuffin, pop and R&B musical styles showing the breadth and diversity of Rihanna’s musical oeuvre. The song contains steel drums and ska rhythms, referencing the singer’s Caribbean heritage, and big beat music creating an up-tempo dancehall number. The song features alongside many hit singles on Rihanna’s 4th studio album ‘Rated R’ (2009) which also contains the hit tracks "Hard" (featuring Young Jeezy), "Wait Your Turn" , "Stupid in Love", "Russian Roulette", "Photographs" (featuring will.i.am) and "Te Amo”. Rihanna draws musical influences from a diverse range of styles including electro-pop, rock, reggae, ska, R&B and pop. She has collaborated with artists of all different styles including Guns N Roses guitarist Slash, Jay-Z, Young Jeezy, Ne-Yo, Sean Paul, Justin Timberlake, Chris Brown, Fall Out Boy and even Elton John. Rihanna references Beyoncé, Madonna and Whitney Houston as major influences on her sound along with diverse influences such as Bob Marley, Destiny’s Child and Alicia Keys. Rihanna's previous album Good Girl Gone Bad (2007) was a commercial success and received generally favourable reviews from critics. The official music video for ‘Rude Boy’ contains strong references to critically acclaimed famous artists, including Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, Salt-n-Pepa, M.I.A. and Jean-Michel Basquiat. Rihanna said of the ‘Rude Boy video "A lot of my videos are really dark and edgy and tough. 'Rude Boy' is more playing along the lines from my roots. We used a lot of color, but also the costumes were very Jamaican dance-hall-queen type.”
