The song is about how Taylor Swift is annoyed about an ex-boyfriend who wants to get back together, but keeps lying to her in the process. The song is a response to a friend of her ex’s who had heard rumors that he and Taylor Swift would be “Getting Back Together”.

The music video was released August 2012.

The music video starts off with Taylor Swift reminiscing about here past relationship, her ex is played by Noah Mills best known for his role as Nicky Marentino in “Sex and the City 2”. We see her on the phone talking about how they “Are Never Getting Back Together”. Towards the end of the video they are at a party, he shows up and tries to re-kindle their relationship and she slams the door in his face. The video fades out with Taylor Swift on her window ledge finishing the song.

The song received mixed reviews.
