Three piece band The Script were formed in the tradition of great Irish rock bands and are sure to sit along the most famous of all time. Hailing from Dublin, the group were formed in 2001 and consists of Glen Power, Mark Sheehan and Danny O’Donoghue, with the latter on lead vocals.
Mark and Danny formed an initial partnership as song writing and production duo, writing tunes for the R&B genre, based out of the US. After a number of years they relocated back to Ireland and team up with Glen Power who they recruited as a percussionist. Their first album was self titled on Sony Music with first single was ‘We Cry’ which was a partly written in response to personal tragedies that happened to within Mark’s and Danny’s families. The second single ‘The Man Who Can’t Be Moved’ was a chart success in UK and Ireland just missing out in the top spot on both top 40’s. However the album did reach the pinnacle of the chart and remained there for over 2 months which is incredible for a debut album. In addition to their home country and the UK the have also achieved success in Denmark.
The second album, titled ‘Science and Faith’, was recorded in London and released in January 2011 and also scaled the heights of the album chart. The success of the band led to a rise in the profile of their frontman who was selected in 2012 to feature as one of the inaugural judges in the UK reality music show, The Voice alongside Will.i.am, Jessie J and Sir Tom Jones. This meeting with former lead singer of the Black Eyed Peas led to a subsequent collaboration on the first single ‘Hall of Fame’ taken from the band’s third album #3.
In a recent interview for MUZU.TV, Danny revealed that the track that best describes his life is ‘Bittersweet Symphony’. He also indicated that they when they initially played ‘Hall Of Fame’ to Will.i.am he had wanted the song for his solo album, but that then turned into a collaboration between the 2 The Voice judges. The track is also the most viewed music video on MUZU.TV
