Zola Jesus is the stage name for the Russian American songer/singwriter Nika Roza Danilova. Since 2009 she has released three EP's and two albums, combining industrial, electronic, goth, classical and experimental rock which have been very well received. Her career started while studying at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she recorded The Spoils, in her flat. Her second full length album, Stridulum II received an 8/10 from NME and was praised because of her classically trained voice and they called it a 'dark masterpiece'. Her music has been described as an ethereal soundscape of a thousand years of heartbreak unleashed into a chasm of unrelenting fire. WinkBall citizen video reporters were at Toynbee Studios on Monday, 26th September, 2011 asking the fans what are their expectations for the evening, what sets Zola Jesus apart from other artists and what they thought of the show.
